Vitamins and Supplements for Health
Your health is important, and so is your food and liquid intake. In this day and age when most of us lead extraordinarily busy lives, the lack of just a few key nutrients can lower your energy level. The loss of key nutrients may make you prone to infections or make your bones, muscles or nerves weak. It's matter of checks and balances and learning what your body needs to operate at peak performance.
Some vitamins and supplements can have long names which sound like a long forgotten language. We all know the basic vitamins, for example Vitamin C or Vitamin A and some of us know why the right amount of iron or calcium is necessary for good health.
In a perfect world, supplements or vitamins would not be needed. Because it's the 21st century, we should be able to eat and drink everything containing all of the nutrients we need, but it's not very often that we can all live perfectly controlled and on target lives.
Vitamins and Stress
There's a lot of stress these days and people are working as hard as they can to live a healthy lifestyle. The United States has a vast network of food growing and delivery systems and people can get fresh fruit from the West Coast in the Winter or from the Southern Hemisphere. Unless you have a perfectly organized mind it's hard to remember all of the things you should be eating, even if it's from the simple government approved food pyramid.
Vitamins and Special Needs
The best thing you can do is to educate yourself, and read about the vitamins or supplements and food groups and what they do to your body -- whether it's to repair, give energy, etc. People with special needs like diabetics or those who are vegans or vegetarians should be diligent and not fall short on the important nutrients. Pregnant women, older citizens, children, the sick, those who are too thin or overweight need to consider their intake of vitamins and supplements and food and liquids.
Heath, Food and Water
Perhaps the best and most likely scenario for today's lifestyle is the judicious use of food and liquid, with the added convenience of high quality vitamins and supplements to stay healthy and at a moderate weight.
As the quality varies tremendously between the hundreds and hundreds of products in this field, this also, has to be studied. Fortunately, due to the large number of websites and books out there, it's not too difficult. One also has to decide if a one pill for all that ails you approach is right (probably not), or a careful study (it doesn't have to take a whole lot of time), is more appropriate for several single product vitamin or other supplements. You won't need an industrial sized medicine cabinet, don't worry. Vitamin Education
It will take a bit of education, reading and looking at the labels on vitamin and supplement bottles. If you can determine the natural sources of the vitamin or supplement, all the better. The good brands have this information on the bottle. A vegetarian may be concerned if it's an animal derived source or a plant one. Perhaps religious restrictions constrain what you may want to buy. Read up a bit, jot down a few notes, and take your own health into your hands.
